Embroidery Types
Are you looking for a patch that’s 100% embroidery? Or would you like a blended patch that’s 75% or less embroidered? Figure out what you want your patch’s final version to look like and then go from there.
-Patch Size
The size of your patch directly relates to the options you can add-on. The bigger the patch, the more expensive these options become, so be aware of that moving forward.
-Embroidery Patch Backings
We offer everything from Velcro, magnetic, to iron-on patch backings, but what you need is based on the purpose of the patch. Well-worn clothing requires the strongest patch backing available. Conversely, lightly worn or one-off items might not require as strong of a backing.
-Special Embroidery Threads & Borders
Want to highlight your custom logo with a bright color? One of the best ways to do so is with special embroidery threads. Don’t forget about this option if you want a stand-out patch.
-Artwork
If you have a unique request you want your artist to follow, be sure to let them know up front. If you can, sketch out the artwork in advance as this is an additional option that could get expensive.

Embroidery Patch Backings

When looking at the best patch backings for your order, there is much to consider. We offer multiple patch backings for you to choose from because we recognize the need to have quality options. The following is a brief overview of the type of patch backings we offer and what to keep in mind when choosing the right one for your patches.
Available Embroidery Patch Backings
-Adhesive. Adhesive backings turn your patch into a sticker of sorts. By using a glue, we press that onto the back of your patch and then overlay it with paper which can be peeled off when you use it. It’s not a permanent backing, but it is quite secure. This is easily used by ordering custom patches with no backing and then sticking the adhesive directly to your garment. Keep in mind it doesn’t work for long-term use.
-Iron On. One of the more popular options, iron-on patches help stiffen your patch for a better connection with your garment. Keep in mind that iron-on patches can wear down easily if you buy from a less reputable patch provider.
-Plastic. Plastic is preferable if you want to add stiffness to your patch. It’s an ideal solution for any sized patch used for any purpose.
-Hook Side Velcro. Most often used in military outfits, hook-sided Velcro offers flexibility in adding and removing your patches from clothing. If you already have a loop fastener then this is a good option.
-2 Sided Velcro. If you don’t have a loop fastener on your garment then the 2 sided Velcro option is a better fit. It comes with both the hook and loop sides for easy installation.
-Magnetic. This option offers embedded magnets into the patch. They are very strong and prevent the patch from falling off your item.
Whatever option you select for your embroidery patch backings, be sure to keep in mind it’s function, durability, and convenience.

Are you interested in enhancing your patch background materials? Have you heard about twill, reflective, and satin options but have no clue where to start?
Well, we want to help. Selecting special embroidered patch background materials is enough to make you sweat, but with the right help, you can easily make a decision that’s best.
Where to Start?
First, think about what you want the material to do. Do you want it to be camouflage so it doesn’t stand out on your garment? Think about the use of the patch first so you know what standards it needs to meet.
For example, if you decide to leave your patch non-embroidered your fabric will be the biggest part of your design. Another option is to use twill fabric, which in turn provides a cleaner look.
Once you know what you want to achieve, you next have to figure out how to achieve it.
You’ll want to look at the border of your patch first. The most common border stitch is the merrowed border, but you can let our team know what you’re looking for and we’ll adjust accordingly.
You’ll next take a look at your patch backing. There are countless options including plain, plastic, iron on, adhesive, Velcro and more. Be sure to contact your artist to ensure the backing is the right fit for the special options you’ve requested.
We also offer special backing options like Chenille, felt, and reflective options to give your embroidered patch a truly stunning finish. Celebrating your sports team, club awards, and more is made so much easier with our special embroidered options.
The best part of custom embroidery is, well, that it is completely customizable. You don’t have to purchase a cut and paste option that everyone gets for their patches. You can fully customize it to fit your vision for the product. Special Embroidered Patch Background Materials are available for all patch styles. For more information about our special background options, contact us today.

Special Embroidery Threads

Would you like to lighten up your custom embroidery patches? If so, you’re far from alone. There’s an entire industry dedicated to special embroidery threads and their use. However, it can be overwhelming to know what option to select. Today we’re going to provide a brief overview of what you should know when selecting embroidery threads.
Making Your Selection
Selecting your embroidery threads can make or break your design. Obviously, you want your design to stand out from the crowd and capture the attention of your audience, but you also want something that’s durable.
Some of our more popular thread options include metallic, fluorescent, glow in the dark, and polyester. One of the best ways to make your decision is to look at the color wheel. The color wheel points you in the right direction if you want something that matches the design you already have in place. Complementary colors make the design work much easier as well.
Choose the Right “Temperature”
Depending on the effect you might want to have, selecting your embroidery thread via temperature is important. For example, cool colors are greens and blues. Warmer colors are your reds and oranges. More sophisticated patches might need cooler colors, while fun sporting events or one-off awards patches might look better in a warmer hue.
Get Creative
Special embroidery threads offer a unique opportunity for you to explore your creative side. Whether you are launching a new brand and need something truly left-field and opt for our glow in the dark threads, or need something that just gets the job done like our polyester threads, there are countless ways to select your threading.
Need assistance making your selection? Not sure if metallic or fluorescent threading will work best? Then contact our team. We’ll happily answer your questions and give you honest feedback about which special embroidery threading is right for you.
